Between trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on a shoestring budget, preparing the ideal holiday meal, the onslaught of relatives and the tower of holiday invitations blocking your door it can become a bit overwhelming. But for right now let’s forget about all of that (because it really doesn’t matter) and focus on the actual point of the holidays (and no it’s not presents).     Letter: Beach cleanup tackles trash

    Editor, Advertiser: On Sunday, Nov. 18, Planet New Canaan joined forces with Darien Environmental Group and Surfrider organization to clean Pear Tree Point Beach in Darien. Three hundred pounds of trash was picked in a single afternoon, including 30 plastic straws, 40 plastic bottles, 12 plastic shopping bags, 200 feet of fishing line and more.   On behalf of Planet New Canaan I would like to express our gratitude to Darien Environmental Group and Surfrider for organizing the event. The Advertiser can now be found at Hearst Connecticut Media, on the first floor at 301 Merritt 7 in Norwalk. Although the office space is out of town, Advertiser reporters will remain regular fixtures around New Canaan.
