Medicare, meditation, witches and more at Lapham

Fall classes have begun and an array of programs are offered this fall at the Lapham Center. The Lapham Center
New Canaan: An array of upcoming free programs are offered at Lapham Center.
Learn about Medicare Med Part D (Prescription Drugs) from trained Medicare counselors who strongly recommend that everyone with a Part D Prescription Drug Plan make an appointment to find out which plan will be best for them in 2019.
Changes can be made through Dec. 7. The counselors are impartial, trained volunteers who have no connections to insurance companies.
Learn How to Meditate Lunch & Learn
Neelakantha Meditation will be taught by certified teacher Jody Kesten on Wednesday, Oct. 24, with lunch at noon and program at 12:30 p.m. . It is an authentic and deep practice that is easy to learn. After the meditation, Kathy Collins of Staying Put in New Canaan will lead a short laughter exercise. Reservations are necessary by Oct. 23 at 203-594-3620.
Witches in Connecticut
Connecticut Historical Society on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m., brings this program on the harrowing story of the hanging of witches in Colonial New England.
The trials and executions of witches in Connecticut predated the more famous Salem witch panic by over 40 years. Hear the stories of some of the women and men accused, tried, and executed as witches and learn how Connecticut successfully controlled the spread of witch accusations long before Salem erupted in panic and violence.
AARP Driver Safety Class
AARP Driving Instructor, Roger Colson, will lead a driving class on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.  that will give valuable driving tips and a state-mandated reduction on car insurance of at least 5% for two years.
To register send a check payable to AARP to the Senior Center, PO Box 83, New Canaan. AARP members pay $15; non-members pay $20. Write your date of birth on the check and your AARP membership number, if applicable.
